Heading out to backpack with the
Jerabeks (Ed & Andrea)
18 mile Salmo River loop trail with more than 2,800 foot elevation gain |
Ed takes a break along the trial.
This was the view for most of the first day, lots of woods and shade. |
After a LONG first day and three
wade-through river crossings, we made it to the 1st night deluxe camping accommodations. |
 |
 |
 |
| O rests his pack against a
tree, still as fresh as a daisy |
All the way up there is our 2nd
campsite. Elevation gain on that day 2,821 feet!!! OUCH!!! |
Andrea takes a break |
 |
 |
 |
| Here we made it to the top of the
ridge, crossing over from Washington to Idaho. |
More beautiful views from the
ridge |
Finally we made it to Little
Snowy Top Hut. Elevation gain for the day, 2,821' but the views were
worth it! |
 |
 |
 |
| View from inside the hut |
Taking a rest outside the hut |
Sunset at Little Snowy Top |
 |
 |
 |
| Smoke from a far away forest fire
in British Columbia, Canada. Over 54 fires began in the county we hiked in during our
4 day
trip! Thanks, God, for keeping them away from us! |
Ready to hit the road again |
Jerabeks on the way down the
mountain with a view of Little Snowy Top Hut in the back |
 |
 |
 |
One of many grouse along the
trail...
Also, our 8 am wake-up call on the 3rd morning |
The fourth and final day...only 5
miles left to go! |
Andrea conquers the trail,
practically sprinting the last mile home.
18 miles of grueling terrain and we were all ready to return to civilization! |
 |
 |
 |
| Sullivan Lake (home base) and a
VERY welcomed site after 4 days of backpacking. A refreshing swim in
cool water did the trick! |
Here we are catching a free
ride in "MEG", a $300,000 wooden speedboat, around Lake Coeur
d'Alene in Idaho |
Jerabeks experience the ride from
the back...up to 45-48 mph and not much slower on the turns! |
